"The gaps between Israel & the US ... aren't bridgeable,..."

Politico/ here
"........ "The situation is very tricky because the gaps between Israel and the U.S. on the two issues at hand -- settlement activity and peacemaking -- aren't bridgeable," veteran Middle East peace negotiator Aaron David Miller emails. "Can Netanyahu meet the U.S. demands; and ... what happens if he doesn't; that is to say, instead of just talking and words, will the administration act?"

If the administration doesn't act in the face of an "insufficient response from Israel, once again the administration will prove they are weak," Miller continued. "The tree they're up on this one is very tall. Paradoxically, it may be up to Bibi to help them climb down."
