"... Firstly, Why did Damascus not specify a date for Jumblatt but merely conveyed a welcome message? Furthermore, why did the Syrians send a message that Jumblatt was always "welcome in his Home, in Damascus" without emphasizing nor confirming a meeting with President Bashar Assad? The second question is: as long as Jumblatt has acknowledged that he had erred in the past five years, why did he not apologize to Presidents al-Assad and Emile Lahoud, for all the insults he hurled at them in front of millions of viewers, which touched the feelings of the Syrian people in particular, not to mention the 'verbal & political' indictments he threw at them in the assassination of PM Rafik Hariri?.It is true that what matters most to Syria, is the commitment to the "constants", especially in matters related to the conflict with "Israel",... . Jumblatt's support for these principles, and openness towards the so called March-8 forces, ..... but his (obstinate) failure to correct the mistakes with Assad and Lahoud ...and most precisely a "pilgrimage to Lahoud in Baabdate", has become a sort of "right of passage" to the capital of the Umayyads! The third question: Why is Jumblatt obstinate? ...... this delay is incomprehensible, unless, and once again, Jumblatt is hoping for the "trade winds" to shift ...again?!

He did apologise today. Said he was "emotional" at the time.
But more important, he announced his retirement date today.
