L'ouverture française vers la Syrie laisse sceptique la majorité libanaise

Le Monde, here.

So according to you what's the deal with those Tripoli delegates and quorum in September (plus sa-beatitude-you-know-who)? This is hardly mentioned by anyone anywhere. In theory this changes everything, though. (Right?).

Actually GB the "prerequisite" 2/3 quorum was pretty much a done deal when (even) M14 aspirants (Gemayel & Harb) stood up for 2/3 ... Only Pan-Arab leaders such as Carlos Eddeh & Nayla remained in line with the renegades.
Jeff F was quick yesterday to call his folks in line, fearing more dissent.
I can tell you this: neither the US nor the Syr are in a hurry to accomodate (each for his reasons of course). Iranian, French & saudi entente is not sufficient to break the deadlock. we are headed towards a conflagration of sorts!

Thx for the added info. As far as the "gros caca a venir" is concerned, yes it feels that way doesn't it.

Frangieh and Fatfat are discredited persons who have no power base, or very little. Their bets have not proved very fruitful and hence, they are likely to try to hedge their bets. The whole political scene in the region is about to change, and drastically, and not necessarily in favor of M14. Nasrallah's last speech needs to be studied carefully. Syria's criticisms of Egypt and Saudi Arabia constitute a change in a behavior where they have refrained for the past 25 years from attacking either one of them. We are in for a very rough ride that may see changes in SA and Egypt or Jordan. Fasten your seat belts
