In reply to 'b' above: Old British saying: "One swallow doesn't make a summer." The preponderance of evidence is that weapons and ammunition are expensive and not easy to come by for the rebels in Syria. Light weapons like rifles are far cheaper in Iraq, and Iraq seems to be the main source for light weapons. Medium or heavy weapons are almost totally absent. The few counterexamples are isolated and over-played-up.
