He has a couple hundred conscription deserters, at best. Apparently As`ad himself is a retired Colonel, but even if he were an active Colonel he would still have negligible weight thanks to the structure of the Syrian Army. While Colonel is the highest rank in the Libyan army, it is a rather low rank in the Syrian army, practically speaking.
