Back in February and during hearings on Egypt and Lebanon the House Foreign Affairs Committee Ranking Member announced that he would be introducing new legislation entitled the "Hezbollah anti-terrorism act of 2011." The legislation would bar U.S. assistance to Lebanon unless President Obama certified to Congress that no funds would go to Hezbollah or Hezbollah agencies/entities under Hezbollah's control, and that the Lebanese government is actively working to dismantle Hezbollah military capability and infrastructure...Today, resolution 2215 was brought forward, though in a slightly more diluted form, giving President Obama and the US Treasury more discretion, and excluding military, cultural and humanitarian ...assistances to the Lebanese government. The three leading supporters were congressmen Boustany, Issa & Rahhall.
