Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) knows that Al Jazeera's Dorothy Parvatz left Syria on ....May 1st!
The good senator from Washington is just a phone call away! She knows the details of her constituent's 'disappearance'.
She knows that Parvatz flew from Doha to Damascus on an 'expired IRANIAN passport'. Now, an Iranian national has no problem getting this rectified presto pronto, because Syria has no visa restrictions or requirements for Iranians, Turks, Arabs of all colors & shapes ... When asked about the reasons of her 'visit' to Syria, Parvatz said that she intended to do some 'tourism with some local friends' ... Still, no problem in all this, except that Syria has not been a 'destination' in the last month! Moreover, and after her luggage were checked by airport security, they contained techno material for some serious journo work et al!
Basically, the Syrians detained her until the Iranian consul general (Damascus) stamped her passport renewal, and she was deported! To where you may ask? Well where would we in the US deport an Italian? A Moroccan? A Syrian with passport problems? You guessed it: to the country of naturalized origin! Since May 1st!

As of May 6, Al-Jazeera is still sensationalizing Parvaz as being still in detention and being held for just being a journalist, and misrepresenting my country as being hostile to media.
Thanks for the story, but is a reference available? I cannot seem to find anything other than Parvaz being in captivity since April 29 without any contact with the "outside world" yet. Sen. Patty Murray's page also doesn't mention this.
Hahaha, this is too good to be true! When I first heard of "her disappearance"I thought that they should deport her to her country of origin who would be delighted to receive her!And bingo,it seems that it happened. The comical thing in this farce is la pietre figure que fait aljazeera, endangering one (more)of her journalists to pursue its political agenda.I highly recommend them to send the saudi mufti in disguise or even better allahidan to Syria where he can try on himself his nice and very democratic theory of killing one third to save the rest.
