"... Clinton and the Obama administration have been “worried to lose Mubarak who is a partner for peace,” Kagan said. “But this is no longer about, do you want Mubarak for the peace process or do you want something else? Egypt is going to blow up. And this administration has got itself squarely planted on the wrong side of where things are going.”

But George Washington University Middle East expert Marc Lynch praised Obama’s restraint to date in not inserting the United States into homegrown Arab street movements, while arguing events warrant Obama shifting focus now.“It has been absolutely right to resist trying to claim credit for change in Tunisia or to put a ‘Made in America’ stamp on something which manifestly was not,” Lynch argued at ForeignPolicy.com. “Obama was right in the past to not give in to the temptation to make empty declarations on Egyptian or Arab democracy which would not be met, thereby proving the U.S. either hypocritical or impotent.”But “now [that] conditions have changed,” Lynch added, “the potential for rapid transformations has appeared, and it’s time for the administration to seize the moment to make a difference.”..."

Lynch is bought and paid for. The Raj was well run by the likes of him and Abu Texas. Too bad it's too late for competence to do any good.
