"Ayad Allawi, the head of the al-Iraqiya faction, told an Emirati daily that he has sought the intervention of the leaders of Syria, Turkey, Qatar and Russia to assuage Iran..... (but) He insisted, however, that he will not tolerate foreign interference in the domestic affairs of Iraq.
In the same interview, Allawi described the American military withdrawal from Iraq as pro forma, and accused the U.S. of failing to meet its obligation under the strategic agreement with his country to remove Iraq from under the aegis of Article 7 (UN sanctions). He also said that he has rejected proposals by Vice President Joe Biden regarding power-sharing..."
