"Split" decision on Goldstone


LR: "Washington is considering something of a victory a split decision at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva today on the Goldstone Gaza inquiry.

In a special session, the Geneva rights body voted 25 out of 47 members to refer the Goldstone Gaza report for further inquiry to the UN in New York. That is the slimmest majority ever on a measure dealing with Israel in the traditionally anti Israel body, US officials involved with it say. "What this gives us that is important is that it was a split decision, it was not a ringing victory."......

The US and Canada opposed the resolution, the EU deferred, and African, non-aligned and Organization of Islamic Conference States voted for, a US official said..."
