"...Pressing for peace over human rights is a false choice. To the contrary, Washington might be able to demand respect for human rights in exchange for playing a role in negotiations with Israel over the return of the Golan Heights and a permanent peace deal with Israel..."
Is Schenker talking about abuses in Syria or ISRAEL?

The weekly fix of Schenkerism is in. Today's pearl of wisdom is to tie respect of human rights for a 'role' in negotiation. Somebody forgot to tell the Omniscient Schenker that the US 'needs' Syria more than Syria needs the US. As to human rights abuse, did he comdemn the Israeli ones, or are they simply a manifestation of democracy and civilization? By the same token, did he ever utter a word against the abuses at AbuGraib, Gitmo, the clandestine CIA interrogation centers, the OUTSOURCING OF SUCH PRACTICES TO EGYPT, JORDAN?
