WINEP: "...things do not bode well for Washington and its allies in Beirut..."

... and true to form, WINEP's Schenker offers these pearls ...WINEP, here
"....The Syrian government is dominated by that country's Alawite minority and has close ties with the community in Lebanon. Sunni Muslims, some of whom are religiously conservative Salafists -- reportedly backed by Saudi Arabia (Schenker almost uses terms of endearment to Describe the Salafis & their Patrons in Riyadh ...I almost saw a tear there!!!)
...Predictably, the Syrian government has attributed the Damascus attack to "Sunni fundamentalists" -- i.e., al-Qaeda. Given the opaque nature of Syria, the Asad regime's longstanding support for terrorists, and the government's propensity for killing its own citizens, this attribution is far from certain ....
....The Sunni problem in north Lebanon, which has been fueled at least in part by Syria, undermines the central Sunni component of the March 14 coalition to the benefit of Hizballah...."

Schenker's "conservatives" on a rampage in Asrafieh, Beirut... a few Western embassies torched, hundreds of shops & houses .. and millions of hard earned dollars in losses!

Here we go again with Schenker pronouncements. He, with the institution he works for, is like Bush, a discredited person nobody listens to. I wonder why we still have to comment on him when his 'analysis' is closer to fiction and fantasy than reality. And as far as his 'recommentations' are concerned, they are as potent as Bush's admonitions to Congress at the end of one if not the most disastrous presidency in the history of the US.
