Acting Commander of CENTCOM Visits Michel Sleiman & Elias Murr

Lieutenant General Martin Dempsey, Acting Commander of U.S. Military Central Command, visited Lebanon on May 14, 2008. Accompanied by U.S. ChargĂ© d’Affaires a. i. Michele J. Sison, General Dempsey held meetings with Elias Murr, the Minister of Defense, and Lieutenant General Michel Sleiman, the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
The discussions focused on the continued assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces so it can maintain peace and stability, and safeguard the Lebanese people.
The U.S. Government will continue to support the legitimate institutions of the Lebanese government and the Lebanese people as they seek to preserve their independence and security.
