The White House is quite comfortable for now, with Veto powers and all, but Administration insiders warn that unless things improve "dramatically" within the next 4 months, the American political scene could turn into a "bloodbath," compounded by the ever elusive "plan B."
US officials agree that the government of Nouri Al Maliki will have to be faced with deadlines, but differ on how much to increase the pressure without undermining Al Maliki. Officials (and brass) are bracing themselves for a steady toll of 90-110 KIA, and anything short of that major turnaround (within the 4 months window) will spell BIG troubles for the Administration.

At this point, and I know it’s sad to say, but I am not sure I care weather the US wins or loses the war in Iraq. The invasion was based on nothing but misleading lies (WMD and all), and I am not sure it’s all worth it anymore. It’s about time we bring down to justice those responsible for “creating” this mess. An apology to the Iraqis would probably be insulting after all we did to them, however we must start somewhere. Bring back our boys and girls home before it’s too late.
