France intends to sell Syria ATR-72 planes for short flights, after French President Nicolas Sarkozy failed to persuade the Americans to accept the sale to Syria of Airbuses, which include some US-made parts....... the ATR-72 sale does not need US approval. Sarkozy will seal the deal in his upcoming visit to Damascus, scheduled for next week.
